Halászcsárda Keszthely

Located in the southern part of Keszthely, next to the former public beach (now Helikon strand), Halászcsárda opened its doors on June 24, 1934. Built by the Festetics family and initially managed by Gyula Prill, the architectural plans were created by Géza Svastics, a renowned local architect, modeled after the Hortobágyi csárda, featuring a columned terrace, thatched roof, and a spacious garden area. Specializing in fish dishes, the Csárda also offered music performed by Keszthely's famous gypsy violinist, Árvai Tigris János. Overlooking the shores of Lake Balaton, the Csárda quickly became a favorite spot for vacationers and locals alike.
