About the 1940 inauguration ceremony, the following report has been preserved: "Gliders have a new home on the Three Hills. On a sunny early spring Sunday morning, the roads of Hármashatárhegy were blackened by hundreds of cars and people moving towards the top, and above, among the flags flapping in the fresh wind, the sleek gliders, flanked by uniformed scouts and airmen, rested like tired, huge butterflies on the rocky hillside."
