Historic Rock Ford is an exceptional 18th-century plantation located on thirty-three acres of beautifully landscaped gardens and woods adjacent to Lancaster County Central Park. The centerpiece of this estate is the General Edward Hand Mansion, built in 1794, which showcases stunning late-Georgian architecture and is furnished in exquisite period style. Visitors can explore the mansion's captivating rooms and delve into the John J. Snyder, Jr. Gallery of Early Lancaster County Decorative Arts. This gallery features a nationally recognized collection that includes an array of decorative arts from circa 1760 to 1820, such as intricately crafted furniture, portrait paintings, long rifles, tall case clocks, and silver artifacts. Guided tours are available from April through October, providing a comprehensive experience of this historical site.
