The Tunnels beneath the old town of Kranj offer a unique glimpse into the history and culture of the city, having transitioned from a wartime refuge to a contemporary museum and event venue. Opened in 2008, these tunnels were meticulously renovated to provide visitors with an engaging experience while showcasing their historical significance. Originally serving as a central shelter during World War II, the tunnels could accommodate up to six thousand people and extend to a depth of 20 meters. Today, approximately 1,300 meters of the tunnel system is accessible for sightseeing, allowing guests to explore this fascinating underground network and learn about its multifaceted past.
