Our Lady of the Rocks

Gospa od Skrpjela, also known as Our Lady of the Rocks, is a captivating artificial island located in the stunning bay of Boka Kotorska, opposite the town of Perast in the Kotor municipality. The island is renowned for its 17th-century Roman Catholic church, which houses remarkable artwork and a museum, making it a cultural landmark in the region. Alongside it lies the equally enchanting Island Sveti Djordje, both of which offer visitors a glimpse into the area's rich maritime history. The island's creation is steeped in legend, attributed to local sailors from Perast and Kotor who built it as a tribute to their patron saint. A traditional event called Fasinada, celebrated on July 22nd, commemorates this maritime heritage through a renewed custom.
