The New School

The New School, located at 66 West 12th Street, New York, NY 10011, offers a variety of meeting, conference, and event facilities. Here are the key function rooms and their capacities along with the services they provide:

• Alvin Johnson/J.M. Kaplan Hall

• Room A404: A large lecture hall with theater-style seating for 145 people. It is equipped with a podium, blackboard, LCD projector, and projection screen. It is used as a lecture venue.
• Room A407: A large lecture hall with theater-style seating for 131 people. It is equipped with a podium, blackboard, LCD projector, and projection screen. It is used as a lecture venue.

• Klein Conference Room

• Located on the fifth floor of Alvin Johnson/J.M. Kaplan Hall, this room is a flexible, 848-square-foot open-plan space. It can accommodate up to 80 people for a reception or 48 people seated. It has hardwood floors and natural light from four windows and is equipped with a projection screen and an LCD projector. It is used for conferences, lectures, and receptions.

• Tishman Auditorium

• Located in the University Center at 63 Fifth Avenue, this is the largest venue at The New School. It features modern bamboo walls, several stage configurations, including a fashion runway setup, and flexible seating. The auditorium can accommodate 491 to 646 people, depending on the stage configuration. It is equipped with multi-image projection, a main screen with a projection image of 15'-9" x 47'-0", surround sound system, theatrical lighting, video conferencing, and a podium.

• The Auditorium (Alvin Johnson/J.M. Kaplan Hall)

• Designed and built in the 1930s by Joseph Urban, this auditorium is an impressive 468-seat venue with a proscenium-style stage. It has a piano, a small balcony, and an LCD projector and screen. It is often used for large lectures, conferences, and public events.

• Sheila C. Johnson Design Center

• The Kellen Auditorium is a modern, stylish lecture space with theater-style seating for 89 people. It does not have a platform or stage. It can accommodate 200 people standing, 96 around round tables, 125 around rectangular tables, and 160 seated lecture style.

• Theresa Lang Community and Student Center (Arnhold Hall)

• This 2,678-square-foot open-plan event space can accommodate up to 200 people in a lecture/meeting-style setting and 120 for dinner. It has a movable wall that can convert the space into two smaller rooms. The venue has a piano, three LCD projectors and projection screens, and three sets of windows facing south.

• Wollman Hall (Eugene Lang Building)

• This 1,850-square-foot open-plan, loft-like space has hardwood floors and large windows along the north and south walls. It can accommodate up to 135 people standing and seats 126 people. It is ideal for lectures, conferences, and receptions.

• Wolff Conference Room (Albert and Vera List Academic Center)

• This flexible space can accommodate up to 68 people in a lecture-style configuration. It is equipped with a computer, blackboard, podium, projection screen, and LCD projector.

• University Center (UL104)

• This small lecture theater has bamboo walls and excellent A/V capabilities, including a podium, data port, stereo surround sound, MACR bluray, projection screen, LCD, and blackboard. It can accommodate a smaller number of attendees but is equipped with advanced technology for presentations.
